1. Liwa Desert (Abu Dhabi):
"Liwa is my favorite off-roading spot in the UAE because it’s deeply nostalgic for me. I spent a big part of my childhood here with my family, exploring the dunes with my dad, who first ignited my love for off-roading. Located on the edge of the Rub' al Khali (Empty Quarter) driving there is always breathtaking, and when I see the vast dunes, I get a spark of excitement knowing a new adventure is right around the corner. Its diverse terrain allows for dune bashing but is also great for sandboarding, and camping under starry skies. The remote setting makes it perfect for adventure whilst still being tranquil.”
2. Wadi Shawka (Ras Al Khaimah):
"Wadi Shawka is a great off-roading spot as it's challenging yet accessible with its mix of rocky trails, water streams, mountain terrain, and stunning views of the Hajar Mountains. I remember one rainy day when we headed out there, and the rocky trails were suddenly cut through with streams. It’s rare to drive through water in the UAE, and navigating those unexpected streams makes the experience even more exciting for off-roaders.
3. Sweihan Desert (Abu Dhabi):
"Sweihan, also known as ‘Little Liwa’ is perfect for both beginners and experienced off-roaders because of its medium to high dunes. I love going there because it has beautiful views, and often you can spot exciting wildlife such as camels and occasionally gazelles which add to its charm."
4. Wadi Shees (Sharjah):
"Wadi Shees is known for its narrow, challenging trails, perfect for those seeking a true off-road adventure. The stunning mountain views, flowing streams, and rock formations make every drive here unforgettable. I remember my first trip, driving through the rough terrain and feeling like I was discovering a hidden gem in the beautiful landscape. Wadi Shees isn't just about the drive, but about connecting with nature, where every twist reveals something new, this which keeps me coming back.”
5. Al Badayer Desert (Sharjah):
"Often called 'Big Red,' Al Badayer is popular for off-roading groups and tourists thanks to its proximity to Dubai. Whilst it can be busy, it’s a great place for off-roaders because of its impressive dunes and welcoming community vibe. I've had some of my best group off-roading experiences here and made friends with people from the community, making extra special as its full of great memories."
